The music is from …
The music is from the popular 60′s album “Switched on Bach.”
Sorry if it brings back bad memories. I don’t like circuses either, but for other reasons.

Well, kinda …
Well, kinda interesting. Walter/Wendy. I bought the Walter Carlos LP. Then I got the Wendy Carlos CD. Is this music somewhat prophetic? Will we have a GLBT President this century? Eh?

I had this comic …
I had this comic too, being a good Catholic school kid. And I kept it. And I looked at it during the primary and I looked at it again the next morning after Nov 4, 2008 (I was at the Grant Park, you betcha!).
And I am smiling right now as I write this!!! In fact, I still can’t believe it. It will be so cool on 20-Jan-09. I am waiting for 12:01pm that day, baby. Time can’t go fast enough.

That’s pretty eerie …
That’s pretty eerie. And the one panel of the white guy with Pettigrew on the stage. OMG, that looked exactly like how it was last night when Obama went on stage to deliver his speech. And the panel of people in the crowd cheering for Pettigrew, was exactly like last night. Gives me goosebumps thinking how they mirror one another. Scary even.

Bobby Kennedy …
Bobby Kennedy predicted in 1968 that a president of Color would be in the white house in forty years. If that is not prophetic I don’t know what is.

I am one of those Roman Catholic children who grew up to vote for Barack Obama.
Thank you for dreaming, Berry Reece.

Correct, the …
Correct, the original story didn’t reveal (for six months) that Pettigrew was black. I tried to compress the story into five minutes on video. Had I not mentioned why the story was significant up front, I don’t think many would have viewed it.

It’s my …
It’s my understanding that the original story kept it a secret through several installments that Governor Pettigrew was black — I’d have liked this video better if it had likewise preserved the secret until the end.
Nitpick aside, I like the video, and think it’s a good way of presenting the story to a modern audience.
People all over the world are taking notice of Obama’s candidacy, wondering if the Americans were really serious about that “equality before the law” stuff after all.

This is so cool – to read these pages again. I loved this story when I was a kid. It inspired a sense of civic responsibility in me (I was 9 year old). When I first started hearing about Barack Obama, I thought, he looks like Tim Pettigrew! Thanks so much for creating and posting this video of a great story in a really interesting old comic book.
