Interview with Markus Zusak, author of The Book Thief

Written by admin on July 6, 2009 – 4:45 pm -

Its just a small story really, about among other things: a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. . . .

Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusaks groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she cant resistbooks. With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement before he is marched to Dachau.

This is an unforgettable story about the ability of books to feed the soul.

Written by admin on March 19, 2009 – 12:16 pm -

Possibly Scotland’s most lucrative export since whisky, Iain Banks has written over 20 novels (including in the science fiction genre) which are read widely around the world. Famously left-wing, Iain cut up his passport at the start of the Iraq war in 2003 and sent it to Tony Blair: “I felt ashamed to be British and that was the one symbol of Britishness that I owned.” He adds: “It seemed like a good idea at the time.” Not one to do things by half, he has sold all his cars (including a BMW …

Extremely Funny Interview Gone Wrong

Written by admin on February 25, 2009 – 3:58 am -

http://www.elbowsonthetable.com In this science fiction trailer spaceman Fanner Marsten is questioned by talk show host Lawrence Carpetburner who hosted the infamous show Elbows on the Table. The interview goes horrybly wrong but that doesn’t bother the host very much.
Fanner Marsten who reached fame in L. Ron Hubbards sci fi book The Great Secret, was not in full possession of all his faculties during the interview it seems.

Accomplished spaceman Marsten’s adventures can be found in The Great Secret by L. Ron Hubbard. For more information go to http://www.goldenagestories.com/html and get your copy of this fantastic science fiction novel in the pulp fiction book series Stories from the Golden Age by L. Ron Hubbard.

Carpetburners talk show seems to have been very resourceful in locating these characters who appear in the Stories from the Golden Age as evident in the TV show Elbows on the Table which he hosted. Unfortunately the show was canceled in the late 50s and Carpetburner retired from television much to the regret of its sponsor, Pulp Cigarettes.

For other pulp fiction books and stories which feature a myriad of characters, many of which Carpetburner interviewed go to www.goldenagestories.com
